I love holidays. Holidays of all kinds. I celebrate for celebration’s sake. This might be why Michael and I have appropriated so many American holidays. Of course, some translate better than others. I know a lot of people who hate Halloween with a fiery passion and our extended family doesn’t quite understand the whole carving-pumpkins-celebrating-fear thing. But Thanksgiving is another story.
Everyone understands the importance of giving thanks. And everyone understands good food.
I have so much to be thankful for at the moment. Friends, family, puppies, food, coffee, critique partners, good books. So much.
I’ve been so busy lately, bursting with plans and dreams and endless to-d0 lists, but I’ve been making an effort to stop and be thankful. To go on walks, to enjoy where I live, to read good books and to pray. It was this time seven years ago that I met Michael, so December will always be special to me. In among the busyness we’ve made time to stop and give thanks for what we have and where we are, and to dream of what may come next.
Happy holidays, wonderful friends. I am thankful for YOU.
